On March 24th 2018, Westfield High School seniors Emily Bloomfield, Katie Clark, Linzy Rosen, and Will Rackear organized the "March For Our Lives" in Westfield, NJ. This march was 100% student led and executed, with the help of incredible community volunteers and guest speakers. The event consisted of a march starting from the South Side train station going through downtown Westfield ending in Mindowaskin Park, where a rally was held with guest speakers, musicians, and a vigil for the 17 Parkland victims. The student organizers contacted and invited all speakers, ran successful social media pages on Instagram and Facebook, worked directly with the Westfield Police Department to acquire legal permits and ensure safety for all marchers, and fundraised the march from t-shirt sales. The organizers also worked with a local activist group, Westfield 20/20 to set up voter registration tables and distribute absentee ballots. The march attracted over 4,000 participants--ranging widely in age, gender, occupation, race. Marchers included young children and their families, educators, students, and activists-- making this the largest march in recent Westfield history. Speakers included:- Ashley Miskoff, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School alumni-Reverend Bob Moore, Peace Coalition-Ronald McCray, President of Rahway-NAACP-Linda Weber, former congressional candidate CD7-Rielly Karsh, councilwoman from Clinton, NJ serving as a representative for CD7 congressional candidate Tom Malinowski-Madison McKenna, Westfield High School senior-Katie McClure, Moms Demand Action & Everytown for Gun Safety-Juliette Naeveke, Westfield High School senior-Luis Rivera, Gays Against Guns-Emma Clark, Edison Middle School 6th grader
