MCEA is an independent, nonprofit association sanctioned by the U.S. Marine Corps which promotes all aspects of Marine Corps engineering to include: Combat engineering (mine detection & removal, demolitions, field fortifications).Horizontal construction (roads, bridges, trails, landing zones, airfields).Vertical construction (buildings & structures, base camps) of a temporary or semi-permanent nature.Earthmoving, material handling, construction equipment & specialized vehicles.Mobile electrical power generation and distribution systems.Handling, storage, transportation & dispensing of fuels for aircraft and ground equipment.Potable water production & storage.Drafting, surveying, mapping & topographical support.Facilities management.Explosive ordnance disposal (EOD).Additionally, MCEA's purpose is to renew and perpetuate fellowship of retired, former & current Marines and personnel of other services who have served with or supported Marine engineer units; to preserve the memory of those who have served; and to provide an accurate historical record of the contributions of Marine Corps engineers.In conjunction with Headquarters, U. S. Marine Corps, MCEA recognizes and honors outstanding leadership and achievements of individual Marines and superior units within the Marine Corps engineer and EOD communities as well as Naval Construction Force Units (Seabees).
