The Marine Discovery Centre aims to provide the most inspirational discovery learning experiences whilst empowering students to actively protect South Australia's iconic coastal and marine environments.The Marine Discovery Centre has been empowering students through inspirational and interactive discovery since 1997. The centre provides positive learning experiences that focus on ecological sustainability and Aboriginal culture, including the protection of South Australia's coastal and marine environments.The centre hosts aquariums featuring local marine wildlife species in addition to interactive learning stations covering topics such as sustainable fishing, responsible water use, Aboriginal culture and the importance of preserving our marine environments. Engaging beachside marine trails compliment the centre's indoor educational activities. School ExcursionsWe host more than 7000 students from more than 100 schools each year. Our school group visiting hours are 9.45am to 2pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. School holiday group bookings are available daily.Aboriginal ProgramsThe Centre plays a vital role in teaching visitors about Aboriginal cultural knowledge and understanding of our marine and coastal habitats. Our Aboriginal programs are developed under the guidance of the highly respected cultural educator and community leader Karl Winda Telfer, the Centre's Patron.Professional DevelopmentOur professional development days provide an opportunity for teachers to learn more about the local marine environment and Aboriginal culture.Corporate Team Building DaysOur Marine Scientists can provide Dune Care experiences including planting and weeding and/or Marine Debris Surveys
