("MACC") was born from the consolidation of the Marion County Mental Health Clinic Association and the Family Service Society. The Counseling Center was incorporated October 2, 1974 and moved to the present location in December 1975. Marion Alcohol and Drug Service merged with Marion Area Counseling Center, Inc. in July, 1979. Since this time the Counseling Center has expanded to include MACC West, which is a residential facility geared toward teaching certain clients independent living skills; Viceroy and Monarch Place both which serve as permanent supportive housing for those with severe and persistent mental illnesses; Dave`s and Jody`s Houses which are recovery homes for those with drug and/or alcohol addictions who are currently in recovery; as well as Victim Assistance Program, a grant funded program assisting victims of crime in Marion county.
