Since 1873, the Maritime Association of the Port ofNY/NJ has been the major voice of the commercialmaritime industry in the Port of New York and NewJersey. Advocating for the safety of navigation,security of maritime assets, sustainability of themarine environment and a proponent of cost effectivesolutions, MAPONY/NJ is committed toensuring the port retains its competitive position withinthe global trade community.Acting on behalf of the industry at the local, state andfederal levels, MAPONY/NJ has successfully representedthe best interests of the port on matters ofzoning, permitting, public access, dredging,environmental compliance, ballast water policy, vesseldischarge regulation, safe recreational boating, labor,offshore wind, and a host of other issues.As a 501(c)(3) corporation, MAPONY/NJ is in aunique position to advocate on behalf of internationalship owners/operators, marine terminals, ship repairfacilities, tug and barge owners/operators, admiraltyattorneys, pilots, marine underwriters, longshore labor,marine construction firms, port area draymen, agents,port authorities, academics, chandlers, first responders,and others within the maritime industry. MAPONY/NJrepresents the interests, positions, and requirements ofthe commercial maritime industry at many forums,events, hearings, public comment sessions and petitions,and has been successful in protecting and creatingopportunities for growth within the industry.MAPONY/NJ membership includes corporateand individual members with a broadlydiverse coverage of the industry.
