Marribank, near Katanning, was run as an Aboriginal mission from November 1952. Marribank accepted children who were wards of the state and private admissions under the government at that time until 1980. In an act of reconciliation, Southern Aboriginal Council have agreed to lease back the Marribank site to the survivors of Marribank, those children who are now adults, whose ‘home' Marribank became.Headed by Chairperson Caron Wynne whose is a child of Marribank, taken from her mother's arms at 6 months, Marribank was her home until she was 17 years old.The Marribank Aboriginal Corporation is a major project of restoration of the site, the soul and the spirit.
