I am a consultant hydrogeologist with over 25 years' experience in groundwater assessments spanning groundwater resources, construction dewatering to mining and deep radioactive waste repositories. I have managed large assessment projects that encompass the full cycle from desk study through site investigation and drilling, data integration, conceptualisation and analysis by numerical modelling followed by permitting, operation and compliance. My hydrogeological experience covers a wide variety of geologic strata, including fractured crystalline basement, karstified and non-karstified carbonates, shale and mudstone aquitards, sandstone aquifers and overburden. In addition to my experience as a hydrogeologist, I am also a structural geologist, which provides a unique skill set for understanding flow in fractured bedrock, particularly for quantitative groundwater assessments such as mine dewatering. With this extensive expertise, I can fulfil a number of roles for organisations requiring hydrogeological expertise, such as program design, peer review / senior review, audit of monitoring programs, regulatory compliance and solving specific technical problems including complex dewatering calculations.I have a proven track record of being able to solve difficult hydrogeological problems in a cost-effective manner. Examples of this are available in published, peer-reviewed literature. More information is available on https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Martin_Shepley.
