Small is beautiful. That's certainly the premise of the Marussia F1 Team, a young and ambitious Anglo-Russian challenger competing in the FIA Formula One World Championship. Founded in 2009, the Team set out to demonstrate that, with the same passion and determination as the long-established constructors, but a fraction of the personnel and operating cost, it could succeed in the highly competitive environment of F1. 2013 is the Team's fourth season of competition, which means it has not only survived its challenging initiation period, it is also here to stay. Headquartered at the Marussia Technical Centre in Banbury, UK, the Team is majority-owned by Russian supercar marque, Marussia. The F1 operation also benefits from a Technical Partnership with McLaren Applied Technologies, which has contributed to its ability to produce increasingly competitive racing cars. In 2012 the Team made clear the strength of its determination to progress towards the mid-field by holding the crucial 10th place in the Constructors' Championship for much of the season. This year, with the benefit of KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) and the promising design step that its new MR02 race car represents, the Team will be pushing harder than ever in pursuit of its long-term ambitions. These include being in a position to compete successfully on home asphalt at the inaugural Russian Grand Prix in 2014 in the Black Sea resort of Sochi.
