Marylhurst University was founded in 1893 as the Northwest's first liberal arts college for women. Located along the banks of the Willamette River,10 miles south of Portland, Oregon, we are one of Oregon's oldest degree-granting institutions of higher learning. Today, Marylhurst is home to almost 1,300 students from diverse backgrounds and nearly 50 accredited degree and certificate programs, many of which are offered in a fully online environment.Marylhurst offered our first online degrees in the mid-1990s as a way for busy adults to get a high-level education while balancing work, family and academics. Since then, we've refined these programs to offer maximum engagement to students around the world. We believe online learners have as much of a right to small classes and first-rate faculty as traditional students. Our online programs, including business bachelor degree programs and a suite of specialized MBA programs, are delivered by accomplished faculty with extensive real-world experience, giving students the opportunity to earn a degree that's both practical and relevant.At Marylhurst, we believe that character is as important as competence. That's why we incorporate a liberal arts perspective into all degree programs and focus select coursework on sustainability and social responsibility. Our goal is to empower our students to become the next generation of intellectually strong, ethically sound professional leaders.
