Based in Northern Italy near Switzerland and the Alps, Mascioni is one of Europe's oldest organbuilders. We've built, restored and maintained organs here since 1829. Around here, craftsmanship passes from father to son. It's one of the reasons why most of every Mascioni organ is still made in-house. Local oak, fir and walnut age in the same controlled environments as decades ago. Soundboards are hand-jointed. Pipes are cast, planed, soldered and burnished as they have been for over a century. That said, our traditions have never hindered progress. Independent engineers, technologists, acousticians, architects and musicians often form part of our team. New actions and wind systems are always in development. Our tonal thinking embraces schools thousands of miles from Italy. And as a member of the ISO (International Society of Organbuilders) since 1972, our people attend workshops across Europe to embrace new techniques and technologies. This mix of tradition and contemporary thinking puts Mascioni in demand worldwide. We regularly export to France, Portugal, Iceland, Japan and China to name a few. Europe, especially Italy, is also a trove of historic organs. Luckily, we've the skills to restore them. And in turn, by studying as we work, we often re-learn forgotten scalings, compositions, designs and techniques we can use again today. As well as confidently embracing the future, a new Mascioni organ can also embody the spirit of the past.
