Matthew Dow and Holly West started Mascoma Community Properties to provide affordable housing that gives back to the community. The Mascoma area is a tight-knit community that is a wonderful place for people to live, work, raise families, and retire. Through the course of our work with Friends of Mascoma Foundation and MTD Building Contractors, plus our long-time residency in the area, we have seen the need for affordable and accessible rental housing.We care deeply about our community and through our business, plan to revitalize properties that have either been neglected or not used to their full potential in recent years. We intend to maintain, preserve, and enhance the character of Mascoma towns through our work. We do not plan to gentrify the towns and make them unaffordable for current residents.We intend to provide safe, affordable, and accessible rental properties that will meet the needs of young professionals and our aging population. Through careful property selection, we plan to purchase properties that are within walking distance to key services and resources: Advance Transit, groceries, libraries, schools, and senior centers. Our intent is to acquire 3-5 properties in the Mascoma area by December 31, 2024.
