The mission of MASK (Mothers Awareness on School-Age Kids) is to educate both parents and children about the issues facing our youth today and to help empower children to make safe, healthy choices. History and Purpose of MASK Mothers Awareness on School-Age Kids, or MASK, is a non-profit organization founded by a group of dedicated mothers in 2007. MASK addresses a wide range of topics including drugs, alcohol, bullying, internet/technology safety, eating disorders and depression with the goal of improving communication with our children and empowering them to make safe, healthy choices. Early prevention is an invaluable tool for educating children on such relevant issues. Elementary age children engage openly and can be taught the consequences of one bad choice. Fostering discussion on issues as they grow, enables them to making healthy decisions. Statistics show drug use can begin as early as 13 years of age, and often triples between 6th and 8th grade. These statistics being so significant, create the need for education and empowerment. MASK also gives parents an opportunity to network and share tools that focus on prevention while showing children the value of healthy peer relationships. Our vision is to ultimately see parents and children working together to create a positive shift in our society.
