The Materials and Engineering Research Institute (MERI) brings together a multidisciplinary team of experts dedicated to generating innovative ideas - and making them work for your business. What sets us apart is how we turn our expertise into real-world, commercial applications for our industrial partners. The institute is made up of four research centres:- Centre for Automation and Robotics Research;- Polymers, Nanocomposites and Modelling Research Centre;- Structural Materials and Integrity Research Centre;- Thin Films Research Centre.In addition, in the spirit of collaboration, we draw on relevant experience from across the Sheffield Hallam University, working with healthcare professionals, designers, food scientists and packaging experts. Having this breadth of knowledge in one organisation means we can tackle your challenges from every angle. Along with our research and consultancy, if you work with us you'll have access to our state-of-the-art equipment, from the latest electron microscopes and high-performance computing hardware to advanced robotics and world-leading PVD coating technology. We work with a diverse range of industries and sectors, including advanced manufacturing, renewable energies, medical technologies and food and drink.
