The Spanish Network for Mathematics & Industry (math-in) is a private nonprofit association focused on transferring mathematical technology to business and industrial sectors, thus stimulating an increase in competitiveness in the research groups involved and industry itself. One of the key differentiating features of math-in is its network structure that makes easy for companies to access research groups and highly skilled researchers, spread throughout Spain. Research activities within the groups are aimed at specific issues of their own areas of knowledge, paying particular attention to applicability for development and innovation in companies. Thus, math-in has as principal aims to provide solutions and to transfer mathematical technology to the productive sectors of society and to introduce innovations and improvements through the application of today's latest and most demanded technologies: - CAD/CAE. Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) uses the results obtained in computeraided design and in calculation computer programmes to simulate, predict or study the performance of products or processes, thus achieving significant improvement in cost, time and, in general, the monitoring of the research, development and innovation process. - Statistical, data analysis or decision support techniques. These mathematical techniques include different methods used, for example, to improve customer analysis, markets, products, quality, planning, risks, logistics, allocation or optimization of resources and processes, etc. - Other mathematical techniques. Several mathematical techniques can be applied to areas such as geographical location; image or signal processing; geometry, design or visualization; bio-informatics or biomathematics; search and coding information or computing.
