As the first Luxury Collection property in Hungary, this landmark hotel will occupy the beautiful Matild Palace, a palatial neo-baroque building on the gateway to the Elisabeth Bridge over the Danube. Originally built between 1899 and 1902, under the patronage of Princess Clotilde of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, by Hungarian-German architect Kálmán Giergl, both the Matild and its sister building, the Klotild Palace, feature large copies of the crown of the Archduke a top their twin towers. The new hotel will feature 130 elegantly appointed rooms and suites along with multiple options for dining, including the historical Matild Café and Cabaret—the first in the city to open after World War II—a Sky Bar and a signature restaurant.
