We are an independent cassette tape record label founded in 2020 by a bunch of '90s kids, hailing from Skopje (Macedonia). It all started as a treasure hunt on the flea market, looking for unusual electronics and memorabilia inspired by the cassette revival and feeling nostalgic about hisses and hums. Stumbling upon some old cassettes and walkmans, our first idea was to sample them to find unique and original sounds. Soon enough the cassette players ended up in our live gigging rigs, recorders in our studio rigs, and our music on cassettes. Matracookie releases are all limited edition c30 type I cassettes with b side of every release as cassette-only. All recorded, mixed, mastered, and dubbed in-house at our studio knobs keys 'n stuff. Produced and designed at MATRACOOKIE HQ.
