Matt's Promise is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of young people affected by terminal illnesses. Our commitment, through select funding of treatment, research, education, and support programs, is to advance the fight against these diseases and to assure the most comprehensive, innovative, and compassionate care.\\Matt's Promise's was founded by Matt Wiederkehr, a true family man — devoted father, a wonderful husband and partner, loving brother and son, loyal friend, and a committed and energetic employee of Google, Inc. In 2003, at the age of 33, Matt was officially diagnosed with stage-4 colon cancer and devastatingly passed less than a year later. His last months were lived loving his family, and devoted to making a positive and far-reaching difference for young people battling terminal illnesses.\\Matt's Promise Foundation's core project is a partnership with Charley's Fund. Through this strategic alliance we have been instrumental in supporting some of the most meaningful advances in the search for a treatment or cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) – a uniformly terminal illness that is the number one genetic killer of children in the world today.
