MAWS provides free veterinary care to the animals of low-income individuals in and around Maun. Our purpose-built clinic hosts international volunteer vets year-round who sterilise and vaccinate dogs and cats, provide life-saving emergency treatment, and humanely euthanise animals beyond help. We reunite, rehome and rehabilitate lost, found and stray animals, educate owners about the importance of responsible animal care, and provide an emergency first-response service to injured livestock. MAWS also conducts sterilisation and vaccination outreach clinics across Botswana, targeting rural areas where villagers live side-by-side with wildlife. This outreach work brings vital veterinary treatment to remote locations and prevents the transmission of distemper and rabies: diseases which can decimate wildlife including key predator species such as African wild dogs, lions, leopards and cheetahs.
