The Max Planck Institute for Physics is one of the most renowned research institutions in particle physics. We explore the smallest building blocks of matter – elementary particles – and their interactions, aiming at answering some of the fundamental questions on the constituents of the universe: What is the nature of dark matter? Why is there hardly any antimatter in the universe? What are the mechanisms behind the violent processes in cosmic objects like black holes or gamma-ray bursts?
