With over 35 years of experience, the firm's principals have a strong development capability including market assessment, site selection, financial underwriting, development conceptualization, building design, land entitlement, site improvement, placement of construction and permanent debt, construction management, property management and coordination/oversight of all development functions.Previous HistoryThe origins of McDermott Properties began in the 1970s when Arthur McDermott founded Land Use consultants, Inc., a land planning and real estate consulting firm that master planned and secured zoning for large scale, multi-use projects in the Rocky Mountain area. Many of these projects have enjoyed successful build-outs, including Castle Pines, the luxury residential/golfing community located south of Denver; Lone Tree, a master planned residential community; and Meridian, an office park now owned and being developed by the Denver Tech Center.In the 1980's Mr. McDermott formed McDermott & Stein, Inc., a real estate management company that grew, under his leadership as President and CEO, to become the largest multi-family property management organization in the Rocky Mountain Region. Based in Denver with 400 employees, the firm managed 14,000 apartment and condominiums and had regional offices in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Salt Lake City, Utah.
