Design - Montreal, Quebec, Canada
McGill aCADemy focuses on the development of CAD (computer-aided design) skills - a tenet of engineering that is prominent in any academic/professional context. Regardless of the type of project at hand, a strong foundation in CAD and a fluency of CAD software(s) will prove to be a vital asset amongst teams of engineers. Whilst these skills are taught at the post-secondary level, there seems to be minimal services to develop one's CAD proficiency. Furthermore, the development of strong CAD skills is a task that requires time and dedication, which is why it is not uncommon to see engineering students struggle once they're registered in their CAD courses. In cognizance of this issue, McGill aCADemy's objective is to provide first-year, undergraduate engineering students with an opportunity to develop these skills prior to experiencing the constructive stresses of university; we aim to give students a sense of preparation. In addition, we believe that by exposing students to CAD, we will manage to provide an insight as to what engineering prescribes, as well as garner a sense of interest for the field amongst our peers. By implementing weekly tutorials on campus, McGill aCADemy will be able to accomplish these goals and provide students with important industry-related skills.
