The Mechatronics research group focuses on the development of robotic and mechatronics technologies, which also examine the effectiveness of the associated systems engineering design methodology. The Mechatronics research group does this according to the principle of ‘Robotize your Future.Mechatronics is a research group that focuses on practice-oriented research within HBO (higher professional education) and is part of Saxion University of Applied Sciences. A research group is a knowledge circle of teachers and researchers who want to encourage cooperation with companies. Within Saxion there are several research groups. All the research groups together have four objectives: • Curriculum renewal;• Professionalization of the teachers;• Knowledge circulation;• Knowledge development / researchSpearheads of the Mechatronics research group: • Locating, recognizing and (compliant) grasping of objects;• Navigate safely autonomously;• Sensors and their data processing; • ‘Soft robotics' for supporting muscle functions Research lines are Unmanned Robotic Systems, Smart Industrial Robots, Sensing & Perception, Control & Manipulation and Cognition & Artificial Intelligence. The Mechatronics research group is chaired by professors dr. ir. Dirk Bekke and dr. ir. Abeje Mersha. If you are interested in our research activities/projects and want to have more information please contact one of our professors:d.a.bekke@saxion.nl a.y.mersha@saxion.nl
