Media Production - Miami, Florida, United States
Media for Change (MfC) is an US-based not-for profit organization created as a platform to launch projects that use storytelling forms to illuminate emerging issues of importance to our societies. MfC dedicates itself to the creative work of change makers, nationally and globally. MfC supports original and collaborative content through MfC Studio and Launchpad by focusing on three issue-areas that underline the mission of building a global community of storytellers exploring humankinds' challenges, solutions and potentials. The MfC goal is "to take heart and action." These three issue-areas are: (1) Content Creation around the future of food production and food security, including the ravages of Covid-19 and its aftermath, and the impact on food in the midst of rapidly progressing climate change. A second key content creation focus is re-imagining the movement to end gender violence, a project also of utmost importance in the current global pandemic and beyond; (2) Democratizing Storytelling by assisting partner organizations to adopt best practices in visual media and communication. In India, MfC works with Paridrishya, a non-governmental organization that is focused on training grassroots groups to become self-sufficient in visual storytelling. This powerful tool empowers individuals to create their own media stories and stay in tune with society's needs; (3) the Dream-Podcast Project documents the dreams of individuals across the world in two components – recordings of individual dreams for a post-Covid-19 world with the goal of capturing how humans across countries and continents perceive the pandemic and life thereafter; and, created long before the Covid-19 pandemic, recordings of what we dream of becoming—not only in vocation but in who we are meant to become. The pairing of these efforts powerfully records the common thread of humanity across boundaries of many kinds.
