Meditating Bunny Studio Inc. was founded in 2001 by filmmaker Jeff Chiba Stearns. Based in Vancouver, BC, this Webby award-winning and Emmy® nominated boutique animation studio specializes in the creation of animated & documentary films aimed at both children and adults that combine different philosophical and social elements together to create humorous inspiring stories. The studio also specializes in the creation of innovative stop motion and classically animated commercials and has created broadcast spots and viral videos for Sharpie, 3M International, Anythink, Living Blueprint, Generali, Ministry of Health BC, Thinkable and Post-it Note. Meditating Bunny Studio Inc.'s animated shorts Kip and Kyle (2000), The horror of Kindergarten (2001), What Are You Anyways? (2005), Yellow Sticky Notes (2007), and Ode to a Post-it Note (2010) have screened at over a 150 film festivals around the world, garnered 32 awards, and broadcast on the CBC, Discovery Latin America, Sundance Channel, Movie Central, Encore Ave., and Shaw. The studio completed its first award-winning feature-length documentary One Big Hapa Family (2010), about children of mixed-Japanese descent and the high Japanese Canadian interracial marriage rate. Currently, the studio is producing surprisingly large amount of commercial whiteboard animations along with a new feature documentary entitled, Mixed Match, and a new short animated film, Yellow Sticky Notes: Canadian Anijam both set for release in 2013.
