Melancholy is a not-for-profit organisation, committed to providing information, advice and support for those living with mental health problems in the 21st century. In 2016, the site's founder, Sam Wareham, identified that provisions for young people suffering with common mental disorders (CMDs) were, in the most part, inadequate and unfit for purpose. After conducting research, he discovered that young people aren't always receiving the treatment which is right for them and, as a result, are often left feeling neglected, which in turn leads to more serious problems. We identified that the vast plethora of existing electronic information on the topic of mental health doesn't always communicate with young people in an effective way; the format in which various information is consumed isn't always appropriate. And that's where Melancholy comes in; we aim to communicate the lessons learned by our writing team to the rest of the technosphere, in the hope that someone somewhere will be able to draw upon these experiences in their hour of need.Melancholy welcomes talented writers on board, especially those with first-hand experience of living with a CMD. If you enjoy approaching topics in an unorthodox manner, melancholyblog.co.uk could be the site for you!
