The range includes rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces. MelanO jewellery is a unique concept and as with many clever inventions, was created purely by chance. Dutch couple Jeanne Wessels, a jewellery boutique owner and her husband John Pepels, an engineer, started MelanO in 2004 with a silver ring and a pearl. Whilst repairing a defect…a black spot…in the mounting of one of the pearls in the ring John had an epiphany which led the pair onto their innovative idea….a concept where the wearer can swap the pearls or settings in their jewellery. And so the silver Cateye ring was born and nominated for the Design Prize of the year at the Utrecht trade fair.Unlike traditional jewellery, MelanO allows the wearer to change their look daily, creating new designs by selecting different core pieces such as a ring base, pendant drop or earring hanger and mixing it with a setting from a stunning palette of colour in ranges of sparkly CZ crystals, semi-precious gemstones and pearls. Core pieces are elegantly crafted from 925 Silver, 18kt gold, ceramic, stainless steel and platings in gold, rose gold and black.Freed from out-dated conformity, many women are "mood dressers" and what better way to create and convey a variety of looks than through beautifully crafted pieces that may be interchanged, stacked, twisted and mixed in so many ways?This is interchangeable jewellery.
