MCN is a world-class nanofabrication centre, combining cutting-edge technologies with the skills and expertise of our staff. Part of the Australian National Fabrication Facility, ANFF, we provide research institutions and industry clients with open access to top micro and nano fabrication equipment and technologies as well as the expertise to support innovative projects. MCN has key expertise in lithography, thin film deposition, chemical etching, reactive ion etching and characterisation, using a broad range of materials including metals, silicon, diamond, nitrides and oxides and we are particularly relevant in application areas such as energy, biosensing, microfluidics and nanofluidics, nanomedicine and drug delivery, micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS), optics and medical bionics. Our staff can train you to use our tools and systems as if it were part of your own in-house process line or we can conduct fabrication or analysis projects for a simple fee-for-service. We also collaborate on design, prototype and batch production milestones for clients involved in product development. Our wide range of capabilities at the one facility means that projects can be taken from concept to prototype with ease, with the possibility of scaling up to trial batch production.

Located in Melbourne, Australia, MCN is part of the Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF) and provides a range of services, including training, fee-for-service fabrication or analysis, and collaboration on design, prototype, and batch production milestones. MCN has expertise in lithography, thin film deposition, chemical etching, reactive ion etching, and characterization, using a broad range of materials including metals, silicon, diamond, nitrides, and oxides. The centre is particularly relevant in application areas such as energy, biosensing, microfluidics, nanofluidics, nanomedicine, drug delivery, micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS), optics, and medical bionics. With a strong focus on innovation and collaboration, MCN is well-equipped to support clients in taking their projects from concept to prototype with ease, and scaling up to trial batch production.
MCN is a leading center for creating tiny things, like tiny machines or parts for devices. We use special tools and our experts' skills to help researchers and companies make new things. We're part of a bigger group called ANFF, and we work with people from all over to make sure they have what they need to create new ideas. We're really good at working with different materials, like metals, silicon, and even diamonds. We use different techniques, like printing tiny patterns or putting down thin layers of material, to make what our clients need. We're especially helpful in areas like making new energy sources, medical devices, and tiny machines that can help with health problems. Our team can teach you how to use our tools and equipment like your own, or we can do the work for you for a fee. We also work with clients to design, test, and make small batches of their products. Because we can do so many things here, we can take a project from just an idea to a working prototype quickly and easily.
