Leisure, Travel & Tourism - Mendocino, California, United States
The Mendocino Woodlands Camp Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, public benefit organization charged with operating the Mendocino Woodlands State Park. The Mendocino Woodlands, a registered National Historic Landmark, is one of the Recreation Demonstration Areas (RDAs) planned and built in the 1930's by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) as part of President Roosevelt's New Deal. Of the forty-six RDA's built in the United States, the Mendocino Woodlands is only one of two remaining today, and is the only one still serving its original purpose--- group camping and outdoor education--- without interruption and virtually unaltered since inception! The Mendocino Woodlands Camp Association's mission is to foster inter-generational and culturally diverse outdoor education, group camping, recreation, conservation, and protection of the Woodlands' unique ecological and cultural landscape.
