Mental Healthcare - Rochester, PA, US
The mission of the Mental Health Association in Beaver County is to promote the importance of mental health by providing advocacy, support, and socialization programs, making a positive impact in the lives of those that strive for improvement in their recovery and quality of life, and working diligently to change attitudes toward mental illness through education. Our vision is to be the foremost agency to promote recovery for persons and families with mental health and substance use disorders by providing advocacy, support services, and education. This is achieved with our specialized programs and recovery-approach to the delivery of services. From its inception in 1955, the MHA, formerly known as the Mental Health Society, has advocated for the rights of individuals with mental health disorders. Throughout the last 62 years, our mission has changed little, although the number of our community-based services has increased greatly from its humble beginnings. In the last 15 years, we have developed many new peer-run programs; our most recent is a licensed Certified Peer Support Program, which was initially started by a generous grant from the Staunton Farm Foundation and will be sustained by HealthChoices. The MHA is funded by: Beaver County Behavioral Health, The United Way of Beaver County, grants and by donations from individuals, churches, civic organizations, and companies who recognize the work we do.Services are provided to residents of Beaver County at no cost.
