There is a shortfall in the United States education system as many students do not have access to higher education, especially those who live in lower income districts where schools cannot provide the proper resources and where family's cannot afford to look elsewhere. Mentoring America is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing post-secondary educational inequality. We intend to minimize the gap between underfunded and funded high schools by providing knowledge and guidance to students who come from backgrounds associated with oppressions. Our plan is to motivate these students to seek post-secondary options, guide them through the application process by utilizing individualized mentors/volunteers, and follow up with them to ensure that they are meeting certain benchmarks. By doing so we allow all students the opportunity to achieve higher education and reach their full potential.
