Founded in 1920 by Harold Aubrey Merchant, a former mayor of Ealing, the firm has always been based along the Uxbridge Road in the Ealing and Acton area. In February 2015 the firm merged its practice with Mackinlay Simpson Ltd based in Kensington to form Merchant Mackinlay Simpson Ltd. We have many clients in the local community and service businesses, small and large, across many sectors. As well as general accountancy, audit and tax skills, we also have individual specialist skills which enable us to provide clients with a first class service as and when required. With our wealth of experience we pride ourselves on delivering an unparalleled service to all clients, whatever their size or sector.Merchant & Co is currently run by:● Ketan Patel was educated in London. He started his audit training in a London based West End practice before moving to Touche Ross & Co (now Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited). After leaving Touche Ross & Co he started his practice in 1990. Ketan deals in all areas of general practice and specialises in media, the medical profession and the construction industry.● David Ford was educated in Middlesex before joining the firm as a trainee. He qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1982 and became a partner in 1985. David deals in all areas of general practice and specialises in information technology and the provision of services to the medical profession.● Gavin Freemantle was educated in London before joining the firm as a trainee. He qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1973 and became a partner in 1979. Gavin deals in all areas of general practice and specialises in the provision of services to the legal profession, charities and the provision of financial services to schools.
