Mesabi Western Railway's mission is to provide safe, economical, efficient regional and industrial transportation, infrastructure engineering and construction, maintenance for locomotives and railcars, and industrial development. Our primary focus is to provide industrial switching and loadout service, mine pit haulage, transfer service and haulage between industries and nationwide Class I railroads, through-haulage, and transloading service between bulk shipping modes.Mesabi Western Railway works individually with customers to develop and manage motive power and rolling stock fleets and quality infrastructure planning, construction, and maintenance solutions as needed, as well as operate or aid in the operation of transportation systems. Mesabi Western Railway goes beyond good intentions and focuses on measurable performance. Mesabi Western Railway is dedicated to being environmentally friendly, reducing long-term operating costs, and improving the overall quality of the transportation network to support all local industries.Mesabi Western Railway is a supporter of Operation Lifesaver and strives for safety each and every day.
