To provide a regional approach dedicated to promoting, expanding and facilitating the arts in Southern Nevada.Vision Statement:As a non-profit, coordinating body, Metro Arts Council's vision is to encourage and further the development of the arts, to build a stronger cultural community.As an umbrella organization, Metro Arts Council serves as:An information sourceA coordinator of fiscal sponsorshipA facilitator of networking and trainingAn advocate for a more collaborative arts cultureHISTORY:MAC's original inception as Allied Arts Council started in the 1970s and lasted until the middle of the 1990s producing the fondly remembered Las Vegas arts magazine Arts Alive. Ultimately disbanded, it was a blow to the cultural climate of Southern Nevada. Subsequently many arts professionals began quietly talking about how to reinstate a new agency that would answer the needs of the Las Vegas Valley and provide a consolidated voice for arts and culture. Metro Arts Council of Southern Nevada (MAC) is the result of these discussions.
