Entertainment - Denver, Colorado, United States
The Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, Inc. (MJO) is an 19-piece jazz orchestra, or "big band", featuring male and female vocalists as well as a full-time Musical Director and Master of Ceremonies (MC). Formed in January 2002, we were granted our 501(c)(3) non-profit status in May 2006, and are operated by a three member Board of Directors. We are a designated "Tier III" SCFD organization as well. We currently perform twice monthly during the school year at Dazzle Jazz Club (dazzlejazz.com) for our high school program MJO Presents, where we share the stage with different high school jazz ensembles. Additionally, our innovative Guest Artist Program brings professional jazz musicians and talents to Denver for clinics and concerts. As a performing organization, the MJO has garnered a substantial following, and appeared in Colorado Music Buzz magazine in April 2007. The MJO performs in and around Denver for various concerts, fairs, benefits/galas, weddings, school functions and holiday programs.
