The government of Canada recognizes the need to enhance Air Cargo Security in response to an ever growing threat. The Air Cargo Security Program has evolved from the Air Cargo Security Initiative (2006 to 2009) a pilot project that explored, developed and tested potential approaches to enhancing Air Cargo Security. Transport Canada is working with the Air Cargo Industry to develop an Air Cargo Security Program that meets the highest standards, reduces risks to the safety and security of the travelling public and keep good moving into and out of Canada efficiently. The Air Cargo Security Program is a supply chain security system that ensures that screened cargo remains secure from the start of the air shipment process (manufacturer, trucking, crating, freight forwarding and final delivery) to the airline.
