mFriday focuses on human capacity development for the mobile web industry in Ghana. mFriday has its roots from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) located in Kumasi, Ghana.As the name implies, the group meets on Fridays to share ideas and develop mobile applications intended to solve problems and improve services in Ghana and eventually Africa. Meetings are usually held at the new Vodafone Cafe at KNUST.mFriday has 210 active members (still counting) with diverse backgrounds, which reflect the unique inter-disciplinary nature of ICT for Development (ICT4D).MissionTo become the number one mobile and web laboratory in Ghana where students will be trained as developers and future socially responsible entrepreneurs in the high technology industry by solving certain problems and improving services in the public and private sectors.VisionThe mFriday Lab will combine teams of talented developers and business students from the public and private universities to identify challenges and opportunities, create appropriate projects, and launch successful companies for economic growth and sustainable jobs in Ghana.
