Our Vision Help ensure the health and happiness of children everywhere. Our Mission To raise funds and awareness for Nicklaus Children's Hospital. Our Story When Ambassador David M. Walters lost his 6-year-old granddaughter Shannon Joy to leukemia in the 1970s, due to lack of medical resources, the Ambassador vowed no child would ever have to leave South Florida to receive world-class health care. Together with doctors, nurses, technicians, staff, volunteers and the surrounding community, Ambassador Walters started Miami Children's Hospital Foundation (MCH Foundation) to help guide the transformation of Nicklaus Children's Hospital into a nationally-ranked pediatric institution. January 14, 2014 marked the beginning of a new and exciting period in the history of our Foundation. As Miami Children's Health Foundation, we are proud to now be part of the new Miami Children's Health System, the region's only healthcare system for children and an undisputed pediatric care leader. Miami Children's is transforming healthcare with innovative ways to advance care and provide hope to children and families here in our community and around the globe. As Miami Children's Health Foundation, we are now even more closely aligned with our mission to raise funds and awareness for Miami Children's to help ensure the health and happiness of children everywhere.
