Food Processing - Dayton, OH, US
Miami Valley Meals started as an emergency response model under nonprofit, Set the Banquet Table, made up of former culinary colleagues seeking to help their city in the wake of the pandemic. Our chefs transform recovered Foodbank (and other sourced) food into hearty meals for distribution through partner organizations that serve the hungry. This effort has evolved into a centralized model serving an average of 3,800 free meals per week through partner organizations. Since March of 2020, we have served more than 184,000 meals through 47 partners in 24 Ohio zip codes. In December of 2020, Set the Banquet Table made the move to officially change our name to Miami Valley Meals with the State of Ohio.By "serving those who serve the hungry," we are able to lessen the strain of these organizations and free up resources for further outreach. We believe that food, as a basic human need, can open the door to further connections and opportunities to make progress. Our centralized approach to fighting food insecurity in the Miami Valley Region is necessary in the wake of the pandemic, but will continue to be an efficient and forward thinking solution for years to come.
