Since 1974, the Michigan Lupus Foundation has been faithfully serving individuals and families affected by lupus. For some, we are a source for information for an illness that is difficult to comprehend. For others, we provide a place where patients and families can come together to discuss the disease and ways to cope. For all, we remain an avenue of hope, inspiration, empathy, and a safe place that recognizes the need to talk through the fear and frustrations that accompany a diagnosis of lupus. We are the only nonprofit organization located in the state of Michigan dedicated to helping people understand how to live with lupus.Counseling Services: Crisis Counseling, Support Groups and One-On-One SupportResource Referral: Physician referrals, assistance with medications and wheelchairs, as well as a resource for food, shelter, appliances, and heating bills.Education Programs: Lupus Symposiums, Health Fairs, Awareness ProgramsFundraising Events: Walks for Lupus (Metro Detroit, Grand Rapids, Jackson, Lapeer), Golf Outing, Comedy Challenge, Bowling Spectacular, Pet Parade Information: Quarterly Hard-Copy Newsletters, Weekly Electronic Newsletters, milupus.org, Free Literature, Toll Free Hotline
