The Michigan Sports Analytics Society is a student-led group at the University of Michigan working to cultivate interest in the field of sports analytics through discussion, student engagement, and various project opportunities.Projects: Partnership with Michigan Athletics (Sep 2016 - Present)- Some of our students work with Michigan Athletics to collect and analyze player data in order to provide analytical advantages to coaches, trainers, and players.Baltimore Ravens Free Agency Competition (Sep 2017 – Apr 2018)- We partnered with the Baltimore Ravens to hold a contest where students were tasked with building an analytical model to accurately predict the salaries of the 2018 NFL Free Agent Class.Michigan Sports Analytics Symposium (Jan 2018)- The Michigan Sports Analytics Symposium was an event designed to showcase the field of sports analytics at the University of Michigan and beyond, as well as cultivate interest in the future of the field. The Symposium included presentations from both students and faculty, who shared various projects and findings from the field of sports analytics with the audience.MSAS Hackathon (Oct 2017)- The MSAS Hackathon was an event designed to increase knowledge of both our group and the field of sports analytics at the University of Michigan. The event drew a wide range of students and faculty, and gave participants the opportunity to get hands-on practice in the field of analytics.
