Micro-Frame was founded in March 1984 by Gary R. Beyer and Robert S. Zika to address the needs of Tier-1 Aerospace & Defense contractors in managing and reporting defense program contract performance. John J. O'Neil joined the team as 3rd founder in 1986 in a marketing & finance role, later taking the helm as CEO.Headquartered in Ontario, California, the firm developed software for project-driven industries including Aviation, Aerospace, Engineering, and Telecommunications, and achieved #50 on the Inc. 500 list of fastest growing companies in America in 1992. Micro-Frame produced a number of innovative products including:* Micro-Frame Program Manager™ (M*PM), first PC-based WBS-oriented fully compliant C/SCSC Earned Value planning, management and reporting solution.* Project Server™* Resource Server™* Time Server™* Project Portfolio™* Project Consolidator™* Business Engine™ suiteBeyer and Zika left Micro-Frame following the placement of a mezzanine round led by Morgan Stanley, Oak and Benchmark, and the Founders Board was replaced by new institutional Board members who changed the company name to 'Business Engine Corp' and moved its headquarters to San Francisco in 1995.The company's assets were acquired by PlanView Inc. of Texas in 2007, and the M*PM software suite IP was sold the following year to Deltek Inc. Deltek continued to sell the original M*PM software as designed back in 1987 until 2019, an unheard of 30 year run.
