Midland Police Service Details
The Midland Police Service was responsible for delivering a high level of service to our Community for over 100 years; now with a population of almost 17,000 residents, covering 30.2 square kilometres we answered more than 10,000 calls for service yearly. The service was disbanded in February 2018 and policing contracted out to the Ontario Provincial Police in the hopes of saving money.In order to address the needs of the Community and the everyday challenges of policing, the Midland Police Service had a complement of 24 sworn Police Officers, 6 full-time Civilians and 5 part-time Civilians.In September 2017, Midland Municipal Council voted to migrate policing responsibilities to a contract with the Ontario Provincial Police. The Midland Police Service disbanded in February 11th 2018. It has been an honour and privilege to have served the Midland community. Many of members found employment with the OPP. Others retired or moved on to other challenges elsewhere. Thanks for the memories Midland.
