The Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program is a five-year, federally-funded grant to states to expand and track evidence-based models that bring in-home parenting support and vital service referrals to new and expectant mothers. The project will aim to increase child and maternal health, child development and school readiness, positive parenting practices, family economic self sufficiency and reduce child maltreatment, juvenile delinquency, family violence and crime in six high-risk Illinois communities: Cicero, Chicago Southside Cluster: Englewood, West Englewood and Greater Grand Crossing, the cities of Elgin and Rockford and Macon and Vermillion counties. The purpose of this plan is to provide MIECHV leadership with a roadmap for outreach, messaging and relationship building that will raise community awareness and support of the Home Visiting Program and contribute to achieving the overall strategic goals of the program. The number of messages will be limited, messages will be delivered locally and key messages will be repeated.
