The Millennial Trains Project was a series of crowdfunded transcontinental train journeys that empowered diverse groups of enterprising and civic-minded Millennials to explore America's new frontiers, advance socially-impactful projects across the United States, and evidence the diverse aspirations and passions that comprise the Millennial Generation.Recognized by National Geographic Traveler as one of the top 50 innovations in the world of travel, MTP was made possible by the support of thousands of crowdfunding supporters and grants from Comcast NBCUniversal, The Rockefeller Foundation, Coca-Cola, and the U.S. Department of State. Traveling thousands of miles, our caravans of vintage rail cars transformed into mobile innovation labs, providing purpose-driven Millennials with the resources, support, and locomotion to advance a project of their own design on a national scale. Through these once-in-a-lifetime journeys, we met extraordinary people in communities across the United States, found time to think deeply about the future, and grew together as a community of creative and inspired young leaders.
