What is mindfulness? Mindfulness originated in the Buddhist tradition. However you do not need to be a Buddhist to learn mindfulness. In fact, people of all faiths, or no faith at all, can and have benefitted from mindfulness. Mindfulness is: Paying attention To one thing at a time In the moment Without judgement With kindness With appreciation. Mindfulness is developed through formal meditation practice and through practising becoming more aware of our everyday experience, enabling our lives to become richer and more three dimensional. How can mindfulness help? Mindfulness is increasingly used to help people manage a wide range of difficulties such as: Chronic pain ME Stress Depression Anxiety Relationship difficulties Caring for others Or to simply manage day to day living in a more creative and positive way. Our mission is to promote and increase awareness of mindfulness and its benefits. Our aim is also to increase access to mindfulness based therapies to as many people as possible throughout Tyneside regardless of income.
