The Institute is an important research and development institution, contributing to scientific and research progress in the field of mineral and energy management in Poland and abroad.The studies carried out at the Institute are characterized by interdisciplinarity and complexity. The first Polish experimental geothermal plant, located in Bańska Niżna-Biały Dunajec and made up of two deep boreholes, was launched in 1993. As of today, this installation is used for heating purposes and as a geothermal laboratory.Our MissionThe Mission of the Institute is to provide modern, economically viable, environmentally friendly and socially attractive scientific solutions for the sustainable development of the country and its regions in the field of raw materials and energy.
