Nonprofit Organization Management - Buffalo, Minnesota, United States
The Minnesota Turkey Growers Association (MTGA) was formed in 1939 and has a long and rich history of representing the state's turkey farmers. MTGA advocates for the industry through lobbying efforts, media relations, communications efforts and materials, website/social media and special projects. The wisdom gained from decades of experience is an incredible asset to MTGA members. MTGA members pay annual dues to join the organization, and in return, are eligible for a myriad of benefits.MTGA works side-by-side with the Minnesota Turkey Research & Promotion Council - formed as a checkoff-funded quasi-state government agency in 1965 - to provide complementary services. Since 1965, the MTRPC has worked diligently to encourage consumers to eat more turkey year-round, sponsor innovative turkey research in areas like turkey health and nutrition, and educate a variety of audiences about the benefits of turkey. All MTPRC programs are funded by a voluntary grower checkoff program, with oversight by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.MTRPC is the oldest checkoff-funded commodity organization in the state of Minnesota.
