MIRA is a Fashion Brand that strives towards women's empowerment in Macedonia, a small Balkan country in southeast Europe. Here, the most hardworking and skillful women live – strong and brave women, who fight to defy life's challenges daily .It is the hard work and dedication of these women that has inspired the formation of MIRA. MIRA is mainly oriented towards improving the current situation of Macedonian women, especially to the vulnerable categories of them, here concerning the unemployed and under educated women. Most Macedonian women are very skillful crafters. These unbelievably crafty women knit beautifully and create astounding pieces of embroidery.MIRA started with our great grandmother Mira. Our great grandmother was a strong and independent Macedonian woman who knitted until her very last day. She did not believe in any other clothing, other than the once made of natural home-made wool. Nowadays, the practice of knitting and embroidering has slowly started to decrease. Therefore, we urge to preserve this cultural and traditional Macedonian value. We not only aim to preserve one of the most important Macedonian traditions, but at the same we aim to create a sustainable income for other women like our great-grandmother, Mira. By bringing these strong women on board, we look forward to creating prosperity and opportunities for the women and at the same time re-developing the Macedonian traditional values through crafts. We believe in women's empowerment and their influence for a better and a much more thriving world.
