Mirth Control is the largest independant comedy booker in the UK, currently booking comedy shows into more than 80 venues nationwide. Mirth Control Comedy was founded by comedian Geoff Whiting in 1997 when he was asked to book his first comedy night in Plymouth. We are now responsible for booking comedy in over 80 venues across the UK as well as five overseas. Geoff, himself a well-known Stand-Up Comedian, works in all aspects of the comedy industry; comedy club booking, corporate entertainment, casting for TV and Radio, giving our clients a unique and rounded perspective on the business. We are dedicated to finding and supporting new talent by supporting competitions such as the BBC New Comedy Awards, 'So You Think You're Funny?' for Channel 4 and The Gilded Balloon, who have both held regional showcases in our venues, and by placing a strong emphasis on breaking new acts through our clubs. Perrier Nominee and TV presenter Jimmy Carr did his first ever paid gig for Mirth Control in Plymouth. We also offer comprehensive back up for venues - poster design and production, forwarding of show details to national/local press and websites and stage plus sound and lighting where required.
