Misi Kami Peduli (MKP), or Mission: We Care, is a social initiative by Indonesian students in National University of Singapore (NUS). Motivated by an awareness of socio-economic problems in Indonesia, and a desire to contribute back to our home country, MKP has grown to be a platform for Indonesian students in NUS to reach out to less privileged communities in Indonesia. Every year, MKP team visits one village in Indonesia and conducts various programmes with the intention of assisting our local partners to improve the standard of living of local residents. Since its first initiative in 2009, MKP has visited several villages across Indonesia, from Sumatra, Java, Lombok, and to Sulawesi. We are also very grateful for receiving trust and support from various partners without whom MKP would not have been what we are today. Our partners include the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Singapore, NAMZ, Tanoto Foundation, Bank Indonesia, Gramedia, as well as media companies such as Global Indonesian Voices. The support from both the Indonesian Government and corporate partners has enabled MKP to grow as a sustainable initiative every year and bring about meaningful contribution to the villages we visit.
